The Holidays are a Perfect Time to Catch up on the Latest MSRC E-News

Need a break from the holiday rush? Reading the MSRC’s latest e-newsletter is a great way to take time to check out what the MSRC has been doing to invest in projects and initiatives throughout Southern California that are helping to clean up our air. Find out about the success of our revamped Local Government Partnership Program and how its redesign encouraged even more participation than in past years. Nearly 70% of eligible cities and counties received funding for their clean transportation projects from the latest version of the program.

You can also read a recap of our MSRC and MSRC-TAC joint Retreat. Policy leaders from the South Coast Air Quality Management District, the California Air Resources Board, the California Energy Commission, the Southern California Association of Governments and others presented needs and opportunities for investing in clean transportation strategies. Committee members also discussed lessons learned from past MSRC programs, potential opportunities for local and state partnerships, as well as ways to design the MSRC’s programs so they have a cost-effective, meaningful impact on air pollution.

Finally, the latest E-News features an update on California’s defense of the state’s clean cars standards. State leaders testified in September at a U.S. EPA hearing held in Fresno, pushing back on the federal attempt to roll back clean vehicle standards and advocating for the state’s right to set its own, more stringent vehicle emission standards.
